A screwdriver is the most misused tool in the workplace. Misused of the screwdriver may cause injury and it can damage the screwdriver. Screwdrivers are only used to loosening or tightening the screw. Some screwdriver safety tips are given below.

  1. Screw driver tip must be properly ground to fit the slot and it should be of the correct size for the hand.
  2. Screwdriver handle should not be hammered.
  3. For electrical work, handle should be insulated.
  4. Screws should not be over tightened to avoid slipping.
  5. Screwdrivers come in various lengths for different type of job. Choose the right screwdriver for the right job.
  6. Don’t work with broken or damaged screwdrivers, it can injure you, so replace the broken screwdriver.
  7. Keep the screwdriver free from dirt, oil and greases.
  8. Keep the screwdriver in tool box.
  9. Use both hands while using screwdrivers.
  10. Keep the first aid box near working area, use it in case of an injury.
  11. Always use the screwdriver for driving the screws, never use it for cutting or punching purposes.
